Kimonos in unique colors and patterns

Our unique and sustainably produced kimonos are available in multiple colors, patterns and models. They are upcycled from the most beautiful vintage saris and re-designed to give a second life. You will find long - like robe- and short - like shirt jacket- models and unlimited opportunities to style this elegant and soft piece of clothing. The colorful kimonos have a chic bohemian look that can be adapted to the season, your style and your mood.

In the past, these saris has been worn by the Indian women, which means that smaller imperfections such as small stains and loose threads can occur. However, to us these imperfections are the clothes' unique beauty flaws. They reflect the life and the love that the previous owner has added to the fabric.

About Saris

A sari is a traditional Indian garment, arranged and woven over and around the body. Saris come in a myriad of detailed prints and qualities. There are more than 30 varieties of saris - all of them differentiated by their origin (geographical, caste), textile composition, colour, prints and embroidery- and is a symbol of femininity, elegance, and beauty.

For generations Indian women have worn the iconic colourful and beautiful saris. Every individual sari tells the story of the Indian cultural heritage, fundamentally highlighting the women, who have traditionally worn these saris both for everyday use and as a celebratory garment.

About Upcycling

Upcycling means working cyclically by using already existing materials to create new products of a higher value. At AMORES we redesign and reuse Indian saris, thusly producing more environmentally friendly than conventional clothing production, since we do not spend resources on producing new materials. We take pride in creating something new from vintage materials and only in the exactly quantities that we need.

We source our vintage saris through local buyers, travelling from city to city, village to village, and from home to home, buying saris directly from women’s wardrobes. This way the women can turn their used saris into money.

Recycled saris range widely when it comes to their material composition. Indian saris do not come with a care label with its material composition, and thus we cannot guarantee what each individual sari is composed of. The saris can vary from a mix of cotton, polyester, and rayon to a mix with silk  - sometime in higher percentage - This therefore means that when it comes to these saris, we do not have the ability to clarify material-specific information in the style descriptions of our products. But we always try to find out the best quality of saris - that is our goal -.

No dead stock for us - we make our bag with what is left from the sari - being conscious and careful about our mother earth and fare trade within all the production process.

At AMORES, we wish to keep these values in our designs for the next person who will wear our garment.
